Texas City Awarded $287,997 for New Recreational Trails Through Texas Parks and Wildlife Grant

One of our Texas clients has been awarded $287,997 in grant funding through the Recreational Trails Grant Program, administered by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD). This funding will support the development of new cross-country (XC) style hiking and biking trails on the west side of a park, enhancing access to outdoor recreation for residents and visitors alike.

The project will establish a 3-foot-wide network of natural surface trails that will wind throughout the western portion of the park. In addition to the trail system itself, two benches and two trash receptacles will be installed to improve comfort and sustainability for trail users.

The project also includes the construction of 3,853 feet of concrete trail connectors that will link the new trail network to an existing road and another hike-and-bike trail, further integrating the city’s growing trail system.

The Recreational Trails Grant Program is funded through a portion of federal gas taxes generated by non-highway recreational fuel use and is designed to support the development and maintenance of motorized and non-motorized recreational trails across Texas.
