B&A Wins a Record $55.5 Million in Awards for Eight Clients.

During the month of June, B&A received notification of 15 awards for eight clients worth a record-breaking $55.5 million. The largest set of funding came from the CA Department of Water Resources Urban and Multi-Benefit Drought Relief Grant Program which awarded a combined $18.3 million for five projects to three clients in Central and Northern California. Three awards were for turf replacement projects, while one funded a groundwater recharge project and another funded advanced metering infrastructure. Other awards included:

  • $13.5 million from the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) 2023 Western Riverside County Regional Arterials Call for Projects to construct a new one-mile highway extension. The extension will include two eastbound and westbound lanes; a raised median; Class 2 bike lanes and sidewalks; and associated road striping, drainage, and streetlight improvements.

  • $5.0 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) program for five high-impact and high-visibility active transportation connections linking major job centers and entertainment destinations to the regional rail/bus transit center in Orange County.

Funding was also awarded from two federal programs, including the Federal Railroad Administration Railroad Crossing Elimination Grant Program for a grade separation planning project ($2.8 million); and the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Transit Administration Low or No Emission Grant Program for gap funding to procure 10 battery-electric buses in advance of the 2028 Olympic Games in Southern California ($3.6 million).

Additional state and local funding came from the Southern California Association of Governments(SCAG) Regional Early Action Program (REAP) 2.0 County Transportation Commission (CTC) Program for a Vehicle Miles Travelled (VMT) Bank ($3.0 million) and a Countywide Complete Streets Program ($6.5 million); the CA Office of Planning and Research Adaptation Planning and Design Grant for a Climate Action Plan ($400k); and the CA Interagency Council on Homelessness Encampment Resolution Funding Program for wraparound serves and shelter housing in Riverside County ($980k).
